United Way of Northern New Jersey

At United Way of Northern New Jersey, we believe that everyone wins when children succeed in school and reach their potential, families are financially stable and independent, and individuals achieve and maintain good health throughout the stages of their lives. That is why we are working hard to address the barriers which hinder residents in our communities from attaining a quality EDUCATION, sufficient INCOME, and optimal HEALTH.

While these seem like simple demands, it is alarming to learn how many individuals and families struggle in our communities to attain these very basic needs. According to a study commissioned by United Way of Northern New Jersey, nearly one-third of families living in our area struggle on a daily basis to meet their most essential needs or those of their family.

United Way improves lives by mobilizing the caring power of communities to advance the common good.

Our Vision is to improve people's lives and strengthen communities across the region by ensuring all citizens have access to the basic building blocks of a good life - EDUCATION, INCOME and financial stability and HEALTH.

 To do this we will:

• Analyze and understand the unique needs of our communities
• Craft agendas to address these needs within and across our communities
• Build coalitions around these agendas
• Increase investments in these agendas by expanding and diversifying our own development efforts and supporting those of others
• Energize and inspire people to make a difference
• Measure, communicate, and learn from the impact of our efforts
• Reflect the diversity of the communities we serve
