The Samaritan Inn is a viable and unique agency that sets itself apart from other human service agencies. The Samaritan Inn provides temporary housing to improve the transitional aspects of our services in helping families re-establish stability and increase job and coping skills for long term permanency and independence. Presently Samaritan has two dwellings with nine private apartments. The agency provides a 24 hour hot line and food pantry to our shelter families; along with emergency services for those outside the shelter residing in Sussex County (e.g. individuals and families in need of motel and food pantry.) As homelessness continues to increase in this economy Samaritan Inn continues to its mission ?Keeping a Door open and a light on for the homeless.
What We Do
Samaritan Inn provides emergency food, community case management and temporary shelter to at risk or homeless people in Sussex County regardless of age sex race or religion. Samaritan Inn shares a positive responsibility to preserve the dignity of the individual to relieve human suffering assist the stricken to offer sanctuary to the homeless stewardship to the hopeless and to participate cooperatively within the Sussex County social service network.
