Volunteer: Be a Mentor for Visions and Pathways' LOTUS Mentoring Program

Visions and Pathways is looking for a few good women to serve as mentors for the LOTUS mentoring program.

 The mission of LOTUS is to cultivate the growth of at-risk female youth ages 14 to 21 by matching them with caring adult female mentors in a structured group setting. The goal of the mentorship program is to help residential and non-residential clients of Somerset Home develop leadership skills, learn effective communication, interpersonal, and decision-making skills; maintain healthy relationships; and foster positive self-esteem, identity, and personal vision.

 The recruitment process for LOTUS is open to the general public through an application process. Prospective mentors who are at least 25 years of age are invited to participate in a screening process. Each mentorship program session runs for six-months and meets biweekly at Somerset Home, with additional opportunities for mentors and mentees to take part in other activities such as community engagement, recreation, and service projects.

Visions and Pathways, a nonprofit agency that provides a home and a hopeful future for homeless youth is looking for volunteer groups for our organization.

Volunteer: Team Project - Spring Spruce Up for Youth Program

Volunteers are needed to assist with outdoor clean up including planting seasonal flowers, mulching, debris removal, etc. as well as helping with indoor painting at a local youth-serving residential program.

This is a great way to help a local organization that supports at-risk youth transition successfully into adulthood, while participating in a wonderful team-building experience.

No experience is needed, but may be helpful.

Qualifications:   

Master’s degree in Social Work.  NJ LCSW licensure.  Two years post-graduate experience conducting individual, group and family therapy with at-risk youth and their families.

 
Supervision: Director of Behavioral Health.
 
Responsibilities:   

Provide crisis intervention and supportive counseling services to residents of Visions and Pathways.  Provide weekly individual counseling to residents as assigned. Provide family counseling as necessary. Provide group counseling as assigned. Complete psychosocial and substance use assessment on youth upon admission. Complete monthly treatment plans, crisis plans and progress notes on all clients on case load.      Provide case consultation with case managers.
