Volunteer: SUD Interns

Seeking individuals looking to further their careers in addiction counseling. Somerset Treatment Services is a highly respected, community-based nonprofit that has been helping people since 1970. We are seeking energetic, compassionate candidates for an internship at a private non-profit agency whose mission is to address Substance Use Disorders. Student interns work with the interdisciplinary team to assist participating individuals with substance use and co-occurring disorders. You will learn and support consumers in a trauma-informed, recovery oriented, and person-centered manner. Please Note: Duties may vary based on practicum and/or internship requirements. The Student Intern will receive instruction and training from employees and supervisors on processes and procedures. Evening availability required. Setting is a community-based non-profit facility with good working conditions. Job Type: Year-round placement COVID-19 considerations: Somerset Treatment Services is required to comply with NJ Executive Order 283. Qualifications: • Organization skills and time management • Able to communicate effectively (both written and oral skills) • Ability to work independently • Ability to work under pressure • Ability to multitask • Proficient use of the computer, copier, and fax machine. • Must be able to work evenings • Ability to deal with extreme behaviors and crisis. • Five years sobriety prior to application (if applicable)
