Who We Are
Literacy Volunteers of Somerset County (LVSC) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that has been providing free adult literacy service since 1981.
What We Do
LVSC serves adults who struggle to read, write, and communicate in English. Free services include:
- One-to-One and Small Group Tutoring
- English Conversation Groups
- Basic English Classes
- U.S. Citizenship Preparation Tutoring
LVSC recruits and trains volunteers to become literacy tutors. Tutoring is focused on enabling students to achieve literacy goals such as reading an email, completing a job application, helping a child with his/her homework, and becoming a U.S. citizen.
