Platinum Minds

Platinum Minds is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, leadership development and academic enrichment organization, which was founded in 2006 by Mrs. Yvette Long, Executive Director. Platinum Minds operates out of three locations: Asbury Park, East Orange, and Morristown, NJ. Platinum Minds encompasses several programs to reach the needs of academically motivated boys from challenged communities in New Jersey, by providing them with life skills and educational resources, in order to set them on a path to live to their fullest potential.  The Platinum Minds programs instill a sense of confidence, leadership, and integrity. As a non-profit organization, Platinum Minds promotes the importance of focusing on our student scholars’ strengths and developing their leadership qualities. 

Platinum Minds mission is to collaborate with other community organizations, corporations, and volunteers to assist academically motivated young boys from environmentally challenged neighborhoods with achieving their full academic potential and becoming leaders in their communities so they can effect positive change. By developing the leadership skills of intelligent boys, Platinum Minds assists our scholars transition into young men, to be productive and effective members in society. By using a grassroots approach to instill change, we encourage scholars to utilize their gifts, talents, and skills to be positive role models to other young men in their schools and communities, today and into the future.

As a part of Platinum Minds robust programming, scholars attend Arete Leadership sessions twice a month on Saturdays, monthly speaker presentations, and college and career workshops. In looking to expand on the Mentoring component of the programming, Platinum Minds would like to extend the opportunity to volunteers to help us fulfill this need, as well as speaking engagements with our Scholars at one of the Arete Leadership sessions.
