Through aur working partnership, we moblize local community resources to respond to specific needs during a crisis, emergency or disaster. We facilitate communication among service providers and work with local officials to ensure that resources (in-kind and financial) are deployed to where they are needed for maximum benefit to the community.
What We Do
The VOAD (Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster) of Sussex and Warren Counties is comprised of local non-profit, faith-based and governmental organizations that play a specific role in responding to local disasters. While police, fire and EMS are the first response, and those disaster-focused organizations such as American Red Cross and Salvation Army, provide the second response in setting up shelters and feeding stations, the VOAD mobilizes local community resources to respond in disasters and to assist residents in obtaining needed services.
