Mane Stream is looking for unpaid interns to help with our all-abilities summer camp! It's a half-day camp (8:30am to 12:30pm) where campers spend time with the horses, ride, participate in traditional camp activities, and more! If you're interested in a career with horses, children and adults with special needs, education, or anything similar, this is a great opportunity to gain experience! Mane Stream is happy to work with colleges or universities to ensure all requirements for college credit are met. Horse experience is a plus, but not required!
Responsibilities may include:
- Meet with camp staff and any other interns to inventory the camp supplies, plan activities for the summer, and order anything additional needed.
- Create and implement age and ability-appropriate "horse-related" camp activities (i.e arts and crafts, interactive educational projects, games) as well as prepare and set up activities on the day.
- Implement and monitor all afternoon activities, while promoting camper participation.
- Assist campers and volunteers while they tack up the horses for their lessons.
- Assist as leaders or sidewalkers (depending on experience) during the lesson portion of camp as needed.
- Supervise campers and volunteers (with guidance from the Camp Director & Activities Specialist).
- Photograph campers during their lessons and activities as needed.
- Additional opportunities depending on experience: photo editing/printing, social media, conducting interviews, writing articles, etc
Requirements:
- Desire to work with children of all abilities is a MUST
- Creative & self-motivated
- Horse experience (preferred NOT required)
- Fill out the application on the website and email it to volunteer@manestreamnj.org with a resume and cover letter
