Description

United Way of Northern New Jersey is an avid proponent of National Days of Service, including the September 11th, National Day of Service and Remembrance, initiative powered by the Corps for National Community Service (CNCS).

Schools, church groups, corporate groups and families are encouraged to register to volunteer as a team. Your team coordinator will receive a toolkit to complete the project. Individual volunteers may register as individuals and will receive a different toolkit for project completion. Kits will vary, but will always be easy enough to work on from your location.

Project Appreciation, an initiative done in partnership with the Volunteer Center of South Jersey (VCSJ), allows members of the community to say a well-deserved “thank you” to local first responders. Volunteers will work on creating "thank you" kits benefiting local police and fire departments and other first responders.

Items to collect and include in your thank you kits:

-Gum

-Granola/Power Bars

-Breath mints

-Chapstick or other lip balm

-Hand sanitizer (travel size)

-Travel size tissues

-A Thank You note

-Paper bags (lunch size)

You can purchase items to drop off at the United Way of Northern NJ office or collect items and pack kits at your location.  Drop off to the United Way office when completed - 55 North Gaston Ave., Somerville, NJ 08876.
